Long talks with movie folks

This is a growing collection of long talks with interesting people from the movie business, about their careers, the films they’ve made, their choices, their ambitions.

The Flashback Files started when I realized that of all the interviews I and my fellow scribes at the Dutch fanzine Schokkend Nieuws had done over the years, not one of them was available online. I figured maybe the original transcriptions had some value for movie fans elsewhere on the planet, especially because the talks tended to be long and in a lot of cases quite comprehensive. They’re basically career interviews. So, I decided to publish them here, in English. The talks are only minimally edited for clarity.

Some of these talks are old. In fact, since we did them, a lot of people we interviewed have passed away. Among them David Carradine, Margot Kidder, Larry Cohen, Ingrid Pitt and John Saxon. Consequently, some of the things that are talked about in the interviews have not come to pass. I have decided not to edit these out.

I will keep adding new talks regularly. I will also do talks exclusively for this website. Please sign up for the newsletter (below), so you can get these interviews as soon as we put them up.

This site is not-for-profit and ad-free. But we’d love it if you would spread the word.

Enjoy these talks!
